Anxiety & Depression

Anxiety is the natural response to stress or perceived threat. However, when anxiety becomes excessive and interferes with daily functioning, it’s often a sign that extra support is needed. Common symptoms of anxiety may include excessive worry, restlessness, irritability, difficulty concentrating, restlessness, increased heart rate, sweating or other physical behaviors to relive stress.

Depression can cause persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness and loss of interest in activities. Symptoms can include fatigue, changes in appetite or sleep patterns, feelings of worthlessness or guilt, difficulty concentrating, or thoughts of self-harm.

I have years of experience treating client with anxiety & depression. My approach is client specific, as we consider your personal needs and goals. By diving deep into your emotions, we find new way to improve your daily experience through emotional regulation. It is a process that takes time and patience, but with continued practice of new coping skills and an increased awareness of self, you begin to develop a life worth living.

Addiction Recovery

Alcohol and other substances are commonly used to celebrate and relax. Other times, they are used to cope with stressors in life. Sometimes this use can develop into a habit. People often seek therapy when they realize their using lifestyle is starting to impact their daily routine. Whether you’re daily, weekly, or occasionally user, the effects can limit your enjoyment in life. For some, it might look like partying too hard, or one hangover too many. For others it's the constant battle of withdrawal, followed by abstinence, only to fall back into the vicious cycle again.

Wherever you are in this journey, I am here to help. As a result of my professional and personal experience, I consider myself an expert in this area. There is no one-size fits all approach to recovery and each individual’s path will look different. My goal is break down the barriers of guilt and shame and build up acceptance of self and a sense of manageability. Many think it’s an issue of willpower and you should be able to just stop. I understand that recovery isn’t easy. I can assist with relapse prevention and ultimately help you build the life you want by reducing or freeing yourself from your limiting habits.

Couples Counseling

Satisfaction in life is linked the the quality of our relationships. Meaningful bonds are defined by strong connections where each person feels seen and heard. Relationship stress can arise when when we feel stuck, hurt, rejected or dismissed by those close to us. This could be a result of a break-up, changes in the home, infidelity, insecurities, loss of trust, parent-child conflict, history of abuse, or any other factor that disrupt meaningful connection.

In therapy, you will take an inventory of your relationships and assess the quality of your connections. We will take steps to heal from the pain of the past to make room for important bonds. Relational dynamics will be explored to better understand where you get stuck and new ways of interacting will be practiced to strengthen attachment. I work by helping individuals and couples identify their needs and develops ways to have them met.

ADHD Help

ADHD, or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, is like having a brain that dances to its own beat. Imagine navigating a world where distractions are a constant allure, focus feels like a fleeting butterfly, and staying still becomes a heroic feat. As a therapist, my goal is to help individuals embrace their unique rhythm and work with the ebb and flow of their attention. It's not about fixing something that's broken; it's about understanding and thriving in a world that might not always sync up with your internal playlist.

In therapy, we explore tailored strategies to harness creativity, manage impulses, and build a toolbox of coping mechanisms. It's about discovering the strengths that often accompany ADHD, such as boundless energy and out-of-the-box thinking. Together, we embark on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment, celebrating the vibrant symphony of a mind wired for brilliance. ADHD isn't a limitation; it's an invitation to dance through life with resilience, authenticity, and a newfound appreciation for the unique melody that makes each individual extraordinary.

Teen Therapy

This type of therapy focuses on the unique needs and challenges faced by teenagers. Adolescence is a period of significant change and development, where teens and their families are trying their best to adapt to these evolving circumstances. Sometimes a significant amount of stress can arise as teens manage challenges with anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, isolation, self-esteem, relationship difficulties, academic pressure or ongoing family conflict. Maybe you had a good handle on things before but now you could use some additional tools to navigate the stress.

By creating a safe and supportive environment, I help teens and their family develop strategies to successfully face change and its challenges. Therapy works when we feel comfortable being our authentic self.  I guide teens in finding their voice to express themselves freely without the fear of judgement. We focus on the barriers preventing teens from engaging in a meaningful relationship with themselves and others. We develop strategies to increase involvement with family, peers and school. We explore difficult emotions and create an internal map to better understand the teenage self. It’s a team effort where goals are achieved and confidence increased.
